Halloween

For some reason I never posted our pumpkin carving and the kids' costumes. We carved our pumpkins which I was not ready to do. But Tony went ahead and pretty much did most of everything. The only reason why we carve pumpkins is for the seeds. We all love roasted pumpkin seeds. We also went to a couple church festivals on Halloween night and then did a few houses. Gabriel was skeleton, Victoria Princess Fiona and Lillian was a ballerina. Next year I think everyone will have different costumes.

Apple Annie's

Well we made it to Apple Annie's again this year. We have gone every year since moving to Arizona. And somehow we squeezed it in before our vacation. It was the only Sat we had open. The kids had a great time picking out their pumpkins. They took forever searching for the one. And Gabriel decided that he wanted a super big pumpkin. And there were plenty of those to be found. Apparently they had perfect pumpkin weather because there were tons of big ones. The weather was just perfect on the day we went. It was cloudy and cool. And during lunch we got some rain. Good thing I had umbrellas in the van. So between the wind and rain our hair was not at its best. Oh and I had fun playing around with the color in some of the photos.

Even More Photos

I took over 300 photos with my own camera and then we also used the FastPass which was an extra 78 photos. lol So these are just a take of what I will be printing out for the scrapbook. Oh and I think we took a photo with Minnie Mouse in ever outfit she owns. lol

Disneyland

For Fall Break we took our family vacation to Disneyland. Our first big vacation in 3 years. We've been planning this trip for over a year. The kids were so excited and so were we. We actually drove which is a first for us. We usually fly, but with prices so high we decided it would be cheaper to drive. I was be afraid since it was over 8 hrs to get there and no DVD player. But the kids did amazingly well. The last hour of the trip they got antsy which is normal for any trip we take. Our hotel was nice with a 2 bedroom suite. And the kids' room had a bunk bed which the kids loved. And thankfully no one fell out of it all week. We had 4 days at Disneyland and CA Adventure. It's funny that the Disney Tony and I remember is so different from the one now. Back then it was all the classic stuff and now you have all the new movies and such. I'm glad we waited till now as our kids are old enough and could all walk and get on almost every ride. I am just not a coaster type person, but mine sure loved the kiddie ones. And Gabriel and Lillian got on some of the bigger ones. Lillian was the only one brave enough to get on Space Mtn. I would have gone if everyone wanted to go. And then Gabriel and Lillian got on Splash Mtn. Victoria and I had fun watching them. lol I think Pirates and the Tea Cups were the kids' favorite rides as we got on those like 6 times each. I got one photo of mainly Lillian on the tea cups the first time. She loved it and the faster the better. The rides in Fantasyland were what I remember. We all love Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland and Mr. Toad. The parades at both parks were fun. Though I think I enjoyed the Pixar one at CA Adventure more. We didn't get to see the fireworks Monday as they were cancelled due to winds. And we missed them Thursday night because we were at the Trick-or-Treat event at CA Adventure. On Thursday night we had special tickets to go trick-or-treating. We made the mistake and didn't go back to the hotel so the kids could take a nap. So they were so tired. But they did really well and Lillian was the only one at the end who was so tired she could hardly walk. We had to bribe her to get one last photo. We had fun, though even with 4 days we still felt we could have used one more day. But the kids got to ride their favorite rides several times and we got tons of photos with characters and even Tony and I were able to enjoy a few rides. Which I must comment that my kids get that coaster junkie gene from their dad. He went on the CA Screamin. It's this huge coaster that basically shoots you out at the beg. Oh he loved it. I have one photo of him on it as it's shooting off. He's in a blue shirt towards the back of the ride. And he got on Tower of Terror. Sorry, but I just can't do huge drops. I can spin in circles all day long, but not the drops. Good thing as the kids love the coasters now, they can keep dad company. The drive back was quiet as they kids slept a good part of the way. And then at the end they were occupied by the Gameboys. So we had a great vacation, but it was not a resting vacation. We were on the go non-stop and up early everyday. The kids and I are already talking about next year. Tony isn't so sure yet, but we'll see.

Apple Annie's

Lillian's class had a field trip to Apple Annie's in Willcox. We went on a hayride and got to pick apples. They all had lots of fun. And it was nice because so many parents were able to go.

The Park

We took the kids to the park. Victoria wasn't around when I was taking photos because she was with Tony and Nero! The other two had lots of fun. And of course Gabriel felt the need to be at the very top.

Answer to Prayer

Ok I have a love/hate relationship with health insurance. Our health insurance is through Aetna. I picked them because they are an HMO which means I have only copays and know what I'm going to pay before stepping into the building. I had a horrible experience with BCBS. Basically the air ambulance was not in-network so instead of my helicopter ride being covered all the way, we ended up with a $10,000 bill. I was so not happy. One thing I also love about Aetna is that they have the best dental coverage of all the plans we have to choose from. We don't have any in-network dentists but if I call every 90 days to get a pre-authorization, then our dentist is covered. Now let me tell you, every since the helicopter incident I now keep a notebook. In this notebook I write down every time I call Aetna. I write teh date, time and the rep I talked to. Then I write down exactly why I called and Aetna's answer. Yes it sounds over the top but the only way I can make sure my procedures are covered. Anyway, Pablo had a bridge put in over 4 months ago. I called a week before his appt and got our dentist preapproved. Well turns out Aetna screwed up. They gave me preapproval and not Pablo. So I had to call back and give all the info from my first phone call. The rep said he fixed it and back dated it. Well last week I got a call from my dentist office saying the claim was denied again. I was so mad. Aetna has denided serval of my claims lately. Not sure why but they have. So I called and get this. They claimed that I never called for pre-authorization. So I explained the first mess-up in not covering Pablo and covering me instead. They found that and turns out the rep missed backdating it by one business day and that is why the claim was denied. So I explained that a mistake had been made. They actually told me they had no record of my call. Oh I was so mad. So I asked them to appeal it. Thank goodness for that notebook. I had the day, time and rep I talked to the very first time. So they told me they would put the appeal in but to not bank on it being covered. I called back the dentist office and explained what happened and they were as mad as I was. I also had to ask if the claim is denied what do we owe. Get this, if Aetna doesn't pay the claim we would owe $3,000. This year we picked up a 2nd dental insurance because we knew we would have major dental work done. So between our two dental insurances we were only suppose to pay $500. So talk about shock just thinking about paying that huge chunk. Anyway, I got the mail today and there was a letter from Aetna. I knew right away it was a decision about my appeal. Turns out that they are actually going to cover the brige!!!! I didn't explain why but I have it in writing that they will pay their portion. Praise God. You do not know how much I have been stressing out on how to find $3,000!!!! I must have sounded mean enough on the phone when I put my appeal in. Who knows, I'm just so happy they are going to pay for it. You do not know how often I have to call this company and fight with them over claims. But so far they have covered everything. And I've gotten pretty smart on insurance information!!!!

Soccer

Soccer season has started. Gabriel loves it. Though his aim needs some work. I think he just needs to think about it a bit more. He does play his heart out though. In fact during his first game while kicking the ball into the goal he lost his footing and slammed shoulder first into the goal post. Thank goodness he didn't hurt himself. I thought for sure he would break something.
